Offshore oil and gas operators and drilling contractors use conventional lifeboat training methods to develop competence for lifeboat coxswains. The challenge with conventional training is that it does not provide coxswains with exposure to extreme conditions often encountered during emergency evacuations. By design, the training must be safe and conducted in controlled conditions.
